Wenger on:

Today’s 3-1 against Everton…

I think we played well, very well with ten men for such a long time to win the game.

We have shown what we have shown recently – fighting spirit. We won the game today, that’s all we could do.

It was difficult. It was hot. But we stuck together and could have scored more goals. They had chances as well of course.

On Laurent Koscielny’s red card and Gabriel’s injury…

It looked spectacular. But when you watch it again it looks harsh – but what can you do?

Gabriel overstretched his knee. He will have a scan tomorrow and we will see the damage - but it doesn’t look good for next week.

How he feels on missing Champions League qualification…

I don’t know yet because it hasn’t started yet. It’s very sad because for 20 years we were in it. And now we will not be in it. It’s very strange.

What I believe is that we played since January and it’s been difficult for difficult reasons that you know about – but there are some other reasons that we will talk about another day.

But I’m very proud of what the players have done. They way they responded and finished the season –

On not being involved in the Emirates lap of appreciation…

My players have been disturbed enough. I wanted the players to have a ‘quiet’ lap of honour that they deserved.

On Stan Kroenke...

I think you respect everybody in life and I respect Stan Kroenke a lot but he’s not at fault if we didn’t reach the Champions League tonight.

A club works when everybody does his job. We live in a society where everyone talks. They do little and they talk a lot.

I don’t know if Stan Kroenke was here today.

On the ‘difficult environment’ around Arsenal Football Club at the moment…

It was been difficult yes. My personal situation has contributed to that. But as long as I am somewhere I do my job until the last day. You could not question my love or loyalty to this club.

I stayed here with very restricted finances for years. I don’t understand why that commitment is being questioned.

Have you ever met Alisher Usmanov…

That game is not my problem.

Views on the season…

This season we have won 23. In the unbeaten year we won 26. So we are not far away.

It’s true that we lost too many games and that’s where we find the point where we are tonight but we went through a period where we were unsettled defensively and mentally.

We do our job. We are professional people. But part of being professional is to perform when the environment is not positive. It’s a fact. It doesn’t help.

Switching to a back three helped because we were unstable defensively and we came back with a more defensive stability. Maybe it was too late in the season.

My personal situation tonight is not so important. I care about this club – even if I leave one day I will love this club to the last day of my life that’s all I care about.

The situation is just how well the club responds next season.

I think this group of players is good enough to come back. They have gone through a difficult period this season and they bounced back in a very strong way. But first we have to keep 90 per cent of the players together and find one or two players to add to the group. But we don’t need a lot but we need top quality.

If I stop one day I will still work until the final day of the season. I have always worked until the final day of my contract.

We won seven of the last eight games – despite the lack of clarity [on my future]. I think we have to focus to win the next one.

My situation will be sorted out soon – let’s prepare for the FA Cup Final.
