Islington Under-11s have booked their place in the Kay Trophy final after holding off a second-half Lewisham comeback to secure a 3-2 victory.

Top scorer Billy Osborn put Islington in front after five minutes, slotting his finish past the onrushing goalkeeper, and then smashed home a low drive to make it 2-0.

Lewisham reduced the deficit after the break, but Osborn and Teddy Shields combined to good effect on the left and set up Sammy Djill, who restored his side’s two-goal lead.

Although Lewisham fought back again to make it 3-2 with seven minutes remaining, Islington held firm and saw out the game.

“It was a fantastic game of football and an amazing achievement from the boys to reach a final,” said Islington manager Marc Stocking. “They have improved week on week and all credit to them.”
