Former Islington BC captain Aarron ‘The Marksman’ Morgan is to box for the first title of his professional career next month.

Morgan will step up to eight rounds for the first time since turning over 18 months ago when he fights for the International Masters light-middleweight championship at the Camden Centre, King’s Cross, on Saturday April 18.

The 26-year-old has won all six of his paid contests to date and was taken the distance for the first time in the most recent of those, against Czech opponent Jan Balog.

“It was definitely good preparation, to get those rounds in, and I was really happy with the way that fight went,” said Morgan. “It enabled me to show a few more skills.”

“This will be another step towards getting where I want to be. The most important thing is that it’s my first eight-round contest, so I’m moving up to the longer fights, and I can’t wait.”

Meanwhile, Morgan’s stablemate Chris ‘The Bull’ Baugh makes his third appearance in the paid ranks with a four-round contest at the Camden Centre on Saturday.

The Islington-based light-middleweight, 26, who was victorious in both his previous professional fights, takes on Bulgaria’s Valentin Stoychev.
