Aarron Morgan aims to make himself a York Hall favourite when he fights at the famous east London venue for the first time this weekend.

The former Islington BC amateur star, who has won all seven of his professional bouts to date, is due to make his York Hall debut against Hungary’s Gyula Vajda on Saturday.

All the 27-year-old’s previous paid contests have been staged at the Camden Centre, King’s Cross, but Morgan is eagerly anticipating the chance to show a new audience what he can do.

He said: “I’ve been there loads of times as a supporter and I can’t wait to box there myself. I want to keep busy and keep the momentum going.

“The crowd there really know their stuff and I’m hoping to win over a few fans. I’m looking to put on a good performance in front of them.”

Morgan picked up his first professional title – the International Masters bronze light-middleweight belt – in his last outing, a comfortable points victory over Nodar Robakidze in April.

Provided he comes through Saturday’s six-round test unscathed, the Londoner hopes to challenge for the Southern Area title, currently held by Freddie Turner, by the end of the year.

Vajda, who made an unsuccessful challenge for the WBO international title last year, brings plenty of experience to York Hall, with a record of 18 wins and 10 defeats.

The Hellraiser Promotions bill also features Kentish Town welterweight Kian Thomas, who steps up to six rounds for the first time since turning over earlier this year.

The 22-year-old, who won a national senior novices title during his amateur career with St Pancras ABC, is aiming for his third straight professional victory when he takes on Wiltshire journeyman Dan Carr.

Unbeaten Archway light-middleweight Tony Milch is also in action with a six-round contest against Ali Wyatt, while the show is headlined by the Southern Area middleweight title clash between Elliott Matthews and Gary Boulden.

Tickets for the show are available on 07950 277 601.
