Islington had eight boxers in action at the 11th Haringey Box Cup at Alexandra Palace.
And Slavisa Gegic came out on top in the Senior B under-69kg category to ensure the club has won gold every year.
Tessa Jones was stopped in the second round of her Class C under-51kg quarter-final by Laura Leonard (Double Jab) having won an earlier contest between the pair, but Gegic beat Fynile Judd (Legacy) on a unanimous decision, then beat Xavier Akinsete (All Stars) on a 4-1 split vote in his semi-final on Saturday.
Gegic had beaten Akinsete on an Islington dinner show in May 2017 and his latest success set up a final with Timon Asiama (Cuban BA), six weeks after the pair had combined for London at a match in Jersey.
And he stuck to his plan to catch the southpaw with a left hook in the second round, before the referee stopped the contest, extending his unbeaten run to 18 since starting in November 2016.
Reggie Hagland said: “Slavisa is one of, if not the most dedicated boxer at the club who is showing great potential and also striving to do better as each contest passes.
“He is a lovely person and deserves to do well. We know it won’t be easy to keep his run up and eventually be beaten but hopefully not during any of the championships! The club plan on entering him in the National Senior Developments in September, the London Intermediates in February and the National Elites in March.”
Lamin Conteh beat Simon Hepburn (Earlsfield) on unanimous points and Brad Ingram (Gloucester) on a split decision, but lost his final to Jacob Gabriel (Basingstoke ABC).
Connor Daly lost his Youth Class A under-52kg semi-final to six-time Irish champion Dean Clancy (Dublin University) on unanimous points, while Ewan Jenkins was beaten by M Cole (Irish Colleges) after beating Dennis Buchanan (Bexhill) in one of his best displays to date.
Hagland added: “Ewan has had a great first season at Islington since moving to London to study at University, winning nine bouts in 12, picking up two London titles in his debut season as a senior, representing London in a team match against his home town of Bristol and boxing aboard for the first time in Germany.”
Laura Weis lost her under-54kg semi-final to NABC champion Georgina Friswell (Chalvedon) on a 3-2 split decision, after a standing eight count, while Masood Abdullah suffered the same fate against Jawany Scott (West Ham Boys) after beating Bradley O’Connor (Intense ABC) in his under-60kg quarter-final.
Jay Jay Curtin beat under-64kg rival Khalid Ali (Repton) 3-2 in one of the most exciting contests of the day, but lost his final to Henry Turner (Hoddesdon) on unanimous points.
Jenson Curtin, 14, competed on Youth Day and lost a split decision to National Schools’ champion Ronnie Nickolds (Hoddesdon) at 61kg.
