Hampstead had too much batting power for rivals Brondesbury in their Middlesex League Premier Division derby.

Captain Liam Hughes chose to bat first after winning the toss but openers George Adair and Garth Davson fell cheaply to leave them 25-2.

Steve Clark followed with the total on 38, but Sam Evison (46) put on 46 with Mubasher Hassan, who had further support from Hughes (21).

Hassan hit nine fours in his 78 from 92 balls, with Jack Biddulph (31) also chipping in and, and Ollie Steele made 46 to help lift the total to 282.

Adam Wilson was the pick of the Brondesbury bowling with a 5-66 haul, as Sam Smith (3-87) also enjoyed success in his 23-over spell.

Smith led the way with the bat in reply, hitting a six and 11 fours in his 71 off 73 balls.

But opener James Overy (32) was their only other batsman to have much impact as they were dismissed for 174 by Will Roberts (4-51), Chris Beaumont-Dark (2-20) and Steve Clark (2-23).
