Hornsey defeated Harrow St Marys in a close contest, but there was mixed fortunes for Wembley, South Hampstead and Harrow Town

A 190-run opening partnership from Christopher Arul and Shane McNamara helped Highgate to a comprehensive nine-wicket win over their rivals North London in the Middlesex League Division Two.

Bowling first, they had North London 33-3 thanks to Malik Shahid Sadiq (2-44) and David Monk (1-48), but Hussain Shabbir hit a 113-ball 109 along with skipper Sam Bardon (70 not out) to propel them on to 227-5 from their 45 overs.

The reply was brilliant though as Arul (94 not out) and Shane McNamara (100) got them within touching distance before wicketkeeper Philip Knott (16 not out) helped them over the line.

Tahmid Islam’s 113 helped Hornsey to a 21-run win over Harrow St Marys. Batting first, Islam and Paul Weekes (92 not out) helped steer them to 241-2 from their 45 overs. Jack Turner (2-28) picked up both wickets.

In reply, there were steady scores throughout with Syed Khawar Ali Kazmi (62) top scoring, and though three further batsmen reached the 20-run mark, no-one could go on as they fell short of the total with Weekes (5-31) starring with the ball.

Wembley suffered a disappointing nine-wicket defeat at the hands of Uxbridge in Division Three.

Only Amir Mahmood (54), Akash Mohanial (15) and Junayd Azar (24) reached double figures along with the extras as they bowled out for a well below-par 134.

Wembley struggled to take wickets in the reply though with Chirag Amin (1-42) taking the only scalp as Uxbridge reached the total in 23 overs.

South Hampstead were on the wrong end of a 109-run defeat to Wycombe House.

After losing the toss and being forced to bowl, Varun Agnish (3-45), Karthik Jagannathan (2-31) and Saqib Pervez (2-32) helped them dismiss House for 169.

But the reply stuttered from the off as they were skittled for 60 as only Nish Patel (23) and Jamal Ahmed (13) reached double figures.

In a low-scoring affair Harrow Town edged home against Acton by just 12 runs. A half century from Asim Mohammed proved vital, along with Lendon Lawrence’s 51 as they posted 149 all out.

In the reply the wickets were shared around with Lawrence (3-36) the main destroyer as they bowled them out for 137.
