The Shepherd’s Cot club are 26 points from safety now with only 20 left to play for this season

Highgate were relegated from the Middlesex County League Premier Division on Saturday away to Teddington.

A 112-run loss at Bushy Park means the Shepherd’s Cot side are unable to move out of the drop zone with two games left to play this season.

Muz Ali won the toss for the visitors last weekend and put Teddington into bat first, and they scored 212-8 from their 50 overs.

The ever consistent Craig Gourlay claimed 4-28 while David Monk picked up 2-31, but 72 by Andrew Rennison allowed the hosts to set 213 to win at Bushy Park.

Highgate were never really in the running after falling to 25-5, but captain Ali started a fightback with 26 off 72 balls.

Gourlay offered support at number seven with 38 from 78 balls, but once they were out, the away side scuppered to 100 all out in the 41st over.

It leaves Highgate bottom of the table with 29 points – 26 from safety with only 20 left to play for in 2018.

Ali’s team will therefore only have pride to play for at Finchley this weekend.
