Islington middleweight John ‘Rough’ Ryder has been forced to pull out of his comeback fight next week due to injury.
Ryder has been out of the ring since September, when he made an unsuccessful attempt to take the British and Commonwealth titles from champion Billy Joe Saunders.
That points loss to Saunders, on a unanimous decision, was the first defeat of Ryder’s 16-fight professional career.
The 25-year-old southpaw had been due to make his comeback on the Matchroom Sport show at ExCel Arena on Saturday December 14, but a hand injury has now forced him to withdraw from the bill.
Ryder, who first made his name as an amateur with Angel ABC, will now be aiming to return to action in the new year.
