Guest Ahmad Panazda (Cranford) was beaten on unanimous points in the first bout at 57kg, after being docked for a low blow.

And Islington’s Ewan Jenkins (64kg) was unfortunate to lose a split decision to Daniel Krotter for his first senior defeat in six.

London Elite champion and National semi-finalist Elliot Whale (Nemesis) showed his class to beat Kian Golpira at 66kg, while National champion Nina Hughes (Chadwell St Mary) outworked Charlotte Hoffmann to earn her first stoppage win in over 50 bouts and level things up.

Islington’s Masood Abdullah had an exhibition bout against 140-bout veteran German international Raman Scharafa after his original rival pulled out at late notice, with no decision given by the judges, before Gideon Antwi (Edmonton Eagles) lost at 105kg to Kenan Husovic after agreeing to fight the night before the team left for Germany.

The last contest of the day was the most anticipated between Jason Mallia and Magomed Schachidov at 70kg and lived up to expectations.

Schachidov started in a typical European style with a long jab and took a laid-back approach until Mallia began to work and applied pressure to the head and body of his rivals.

But the German boxer had a strong last round and took victory on a split decision and Islington are hoping for a rematch.

Reggie Hagland said: “It was another great experience overseas for all the boxers, coaches and officials involved.

“We’d like to thank Nemesis, Edmonton Eagles, Cranford and Chadwell St Mary’s for helping us match seven competitive contests and of course the boys at Islington. There was meant to be a larger team, but bouts fell through at short notice.

“We hope to continue our relationship with 1860 Munich and hope they are able to accept our invitation to box in England next season.”

*Islington’s Sunni Torgman stopped previously unbeaten Aileen Cooney from host club East London BA at their Prince Regent Hotel show.

Torgman pressured the home boxer from the start, forcing two standing eight counts before the referee waved off the contest with just a minute gone.
