William Nantu, 14, returned to the ring after 18 months away to face Callum Smith (St Pancras) and controlled the fight early on.

Smith rallied later in the 47kg bout, but it was not enough to deny Nantu a unanimous points victory.

Ernie Swinhoe, 15, dominated the first round of his rematch with Dawood Noaman (East London BA), but began to run out of steam later in the fight on his way to defeat.

Azeem Bakare took time getting into his stride against Charlie Mullins (High Wycombe), but eventually found his range to overwhelm his rival and claim his third successive win in three weeks.

Shannon Courtenay competed in her first elite contest against Natasha Taylor (St Paul’s, Hull) and overcame a slow start to give her rival a standing eight count in the second round.

Courtenay landed the cleaner shots for a split decision in the 58kg bout, while Lamin Conteh began brightly against Harwich’s Paul Gordon at 70kg.

Conteh faded halfway through the second round but took a split decision and the home boxer of the night award.

New National Development champion Charlotte Briant faced German Sasika Bajin at 72kkg and comfortably won all three ronds in a dominant display for a unanimous points win.

And Chris Cunningham held the upper hand throughout against Jeremy Achony (Rumbles) for another unanimous points win.

The news was not so good for Borys Feldman, who started well against Kane McEachan (Norwich Lads) in a rematch, but was caught by his southpaw rival and lost on unanimous points.

The final two bouts of the night featured German boxers in quality contests, with National Elite finalist and current NABGC champion Martin McDonagh (Rumbles) earning a split decision against Jab Daniel (1860 Munich) and the best away boxer prize.

London heavyweight Ben Vickers (Miguels ABC) was too good for Munich’s Adrian Chielewski in their 90kg contest, controlling proceedings with his left hand and countering when his rival went on the attack to win all three rounds for a unanimous decision.
