Islington youngster Jack Ward collected a bronze medal at the prestigious Belgium Open International Championships – his first ever overseas tournament.
The 10-year-old, a current English champion who trains at the Ken-Bu-Kan karate school in Highbury Grove, scored 13 points and conceded just one as he won his first three bouts.
Although Ward suffered a 4-0 defeat in the semi-final, he returned to fight for the bronze medal and took under 30 seconds to triumph 9-0 against his Danish opponent.
