Islington brothers Kai and Jaz Ghazi-Timms clinched a double success in the Jack Petchey Foundation London Schools regional finals at Chelsea Academy.

Twelve-year-old Kai, a student at St Mary Magdalene Academy who has only been playing table tennis for a year, triumphed against Benjamin Mencer (Holland Park School) in the Under-13 boys’ south London final.

And his success was matched by Jaz, 15, who also attends St Mary Magdalene and picked up his second successive Under-16 boys’ title with victory over Parsa Ayatollahi (Chelsea Academy).

More than 120 players took part in the two tournaments, and both boys now advance to the London Schools singles finals on June 20.

Jaz, who has previously competed in the London Youth Games, said: “I train hard to improve and training helped me to win. I will train even harder for the final.”
