Islington youngster Rosie Wakefield-Lynch gained revenge for her defeat last year as she took the honours in the regional final of the London Schools’ Championships.
Wakefield-Lynch, a student at Parliament Hill School, Gospel Oak, triumphed in the Under-13 girls’ section of the tournament, which is organised by the Jack Petchey Foundation.
The 12-year-old, who plays at Crown & Manor Table Tennis Club, beat Anna Raymakers of Graveney School, Tooting – her opponent when she finished as runner-up in the 2013 final.
She said: “I love this sport. It’s a great feeling and I am really looking forward to the final.”
Along with the other regional winners, Wakefield-Lynch advances to the London Schools’ singles finals in June, to be held at the University of East London.
