Jenkins beat Repton’s Saquib Khan in the Class D, under-64kg finals via a split decision, after a messy clash with the recent Development Championships runner-up.

It was very cagey throughout, with both light-welterweights boxing at range and cancelling out each other.

The only round with a clear winner was round two when Jenkins upped his work rate and landed some clean punches, after he had beaten Fisher ABC’s Kanishka Amiry on unanimous points a day earlier.

Jenkins will be boxing again on Sunday against the heavily fancied Sam Noakes, from Westree ABC, in the National quarter-finals in Farnham.

There was success for Eli Musah, though, as he defeated Demir Mezyraj (East London BA) on the East London Boxing Academy show at Norlington School in Leyton on Saturday.

Mezyraj rushed out like a man possessed catching the young Islington senior with a collection of left and right hooks.

But Musah weathered the storm and dug deep, upping his work rate in the second round after losing the first.

Musah got his jab back on track to keep Mezyraj at bay and forced a standing eight count, then dominated the last and deciding round as he connected with his shots at will and inflicted a second standing eight count to earn a majority points win.
