Islington star Georgie ‘Gorgeous’ Kean made it three wins out of three with a comfortable points win over Dee Mitchell at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday.

The 22-year-old welterweight dominated from the start, boxing behind his left jab and pushing it through Mitchell’s high guard before bringing the right hook into play.

That ensured that Mitchell returned to his corner with a split lip at the end of the first round and Kean kept up the onslaught, repeatedly catching his opponent with fast hands.

A series of jabs and hooks rained down on the Birmingham journeyman, who did well to survive all four rounds and it was no surprise when referee Robert Williams scored the contest 40-36 to Kean.

Although Kean sustained a hand injury during the first round, trainer Jim McDonnell later confirmed that it had turned out to be bruising and not a fracture.
