Franklyn Domi was the hero for Camden & Islington Under-13s after coming off the bench to score a dramatic late winner in their English Schools FA Trophy tie at Woking.

With both managers preparing for a penalty shoot-out after Aaron Mengi had cancelled out Woking’s opener, Domi lofted in a goal in the last minute of extra-time to set up a tie against Thurrock in the next round.

Aaron Appah found the net first for Camden & Islington after combining with Arnold Mengi and Kristian Mikeli, but he saw his effort ruled out by the referee.

And that decision proved costly when a 25-yard Woking free-kick gave goalkeeper Jonty Purdom no chance for the opener.

The powerful forward Zane Matthews was introduced after the restart and he made an immediate impact, nearly scoring himself before cutting the ball back for Mengi to net the equaliser.

Camden & Islington pushed for the winner and their chance appeared to have gone when Domi struck the post with a header, but he popped up again in the final seconds to secure the win in style.

“I think the boys thoroughly deserved the win, with everyone contributing to a real team performance,” said C&I coach Mason Brooks.

“But I think Zane Matthew would have to take the man of the match award.

“He came on and gave their back four a torrid time and his assist for our equaliser was absolutely first- class.”
