Three late goals finally shattered Angel Islington Under-11s’ hopes of winning the Cheshunt Youth League championship as they lost out to Abbey Youth.
Angel faced Abbey in a double header and kept their title chances alive by deservedly winning the first game 1-0, with Julian Sarmiento netting a long-range strike.
The Angel boys continued to work hard in the second match and kept the game scoreless going into the closing stages, courtesy of several fine saves from Charlie Nolan.
But fatigue eventually caught up with Angel when Nolan was beaten with just two minutes remaining – and Abbey added another two goals in added time to secure a 3-0 victory that did not reflect the contest.
