North Middlesex and Hampstead had players in the Timed Cricket and Limited Overs Cricket teams of the season
North Middlesex were well represented in the Middlesex County League Premier Division teams of the season which were revealed earlier this month.
Late last week, the league announced two sides – one for the Timed Cricket team of the Season and another for the Limited Overs Cricket team of the season.
A number of local players were picked, but North Middlesex, who come third, had members of their squad in both XIs.
Hampstead’s impressive opening batsmen Mubasher Hassan was picked in both of the teams too after scoring 669 runs in the Premier Division which was the second most of anyone in the top flight in 2018.
Club-mate Will Roberts also made the timed cricket XI for taking 29 wickets at a strike rate of 20.48 for Hampstead, but he didn’t make it into the limited overs side.
Also in both teams were North Middlesex duo Luke Hollman and Tom Nicoll, with the pair once again enjoying fantastic seasons at Park Road.
Talented teenager Hollman averaged 42 with the bat and also claimed 36 wickets, while missing a handful of games due to other commitments like with Middlesex CCC and England’s under-19s.
Former North Middlesex skipper Nicoll, meanwhile, averaged over 50 coming in at number seven and claimed 21 wickets at an average of 20.52.
Hollman is down at number three for both teams while at seven is Nicoll and they are joined in the limited overs XI by club-mates Joe Cracknell and captain Joel Hughes.
Wicket-keeper Cracknell had an outstanding strike rate of 117 which makes him the perfect batsman-keeper for the limited overs side.
North Middlesex captain Hughes also enjoyed a great term from a personal point of view in addition to his fine captaincy skills and picked up 23 wickets.
More impressively, Hughes was able to record a fine economy rate of 3.05 making him ideal for the limited overs XI.
Highgate’s young bowler Uzair Amjaid can count himself unlucky not to make at least one of the teams though, after a fine campaign in the Premier Division.
He picked up 45 wickets at an economy rate of 3.77, but there was just no room for him in either side.
