Middlesex missed out on a place in the quarter-finals of the Natwest T20 Blast after defeat at Glamorgan.

Their last match in the South Group against the leaders was reduced to 14 overs per side, after rain in Wales, and Middlesex made 99-8 thanks largely to an unbeaten 58 from Australian Adam Voges.

But the home side reached their target with seven wickets in hand and an over to spare as Aneurin Donald (33), Chris Cooke (25 not out) and Jacques Rudolph (22 not out) all chipped in.

Play started late at 8.20pm and Middlesex, lying in fifth place just one point behind Kent, lost Paul Stirling to the fourth ball of their innings.

John Simpson fell five balls later, with Eoin Morgan succumbing to the first ball of the third over to leave them in disarray at 7-3.

That became 17-4 when Steve Eskinazi was bowled in the next over and after a brief delay Middlesex lost James Franklin in the fifth over to find themselves 24-5.

Ryan Higgins stopped the rot in a 44-run stand with Voges, who brought up his half-century from 24 balls after hitting seven fours.

Tim Southee hit Graham Wagg for the biggest six of the innings, but departed in the penultimate over after a leading edge to Wagg off the bowling of Michael Hogan.

Tom Helm was dropped by Donald but run out off the final delivery of the innings and then saw the Glamorgan batsman hit him for a couple of early boundaries.

Glamorgan were 28-0 after four overs, with Donald hitting Natahn Sowter for four to make it 49-0 after six overs.

Donald was caught by Morgan off Higgins (2-13), with Nick Selman pouched by Sowter three balls later as Glamorgan reached the midway point on 52-2.

The target was down to 31 off 24 balls and 22 off 18, before Steve Finn conceded 12 runs in the 12th over, and Rudolph and Cooke finished things off as their unbroken stand reached 46 to set up a home tie with Leicestershire next Wednesday.

Quarter-finals: Derbyshire v Hampshire; Glamorggan v Leciestershire; Nottinghamshire v Somerset; Surrey v Birmingham.
