North Middlesex triumphed by eight wickets over Hampstead on Saturday in the Middlesex County Premier Division with Luke Hollman starring again.

The England under-19s ace had the visitors in a spin at Park Road on his way to 5-13 from 7.4 overs before he scored 75 not out.

It helped Joel Hughes' men take bragging rights over Hampstead, who were left to ponder what may have been had George Adair and Mubasher Hassan been available.

Away captain Matt Watson won the toss and batted first, but they were quickly reduced to 43-4 by Ed Bird (3-30) and North Middesex's skipper Hughes, who claimed 1-21.

Ben Frazer led the recovery and scored 45 while Oliver Redwood hit 26, but once Hollman bowled the former the collapse started.

Hampstead went from 118-4 to 142 all out with North Middlesex's academy talent producing more magic with the ball.

If that wasn't enough, Hollman then opened the batting and put on 60 for the first wicket with Joe Cracknell, who struck a rapid 36.

Another wicket fell, but James Parslow scored an unbeaten 21 to help North Middlesex get over the line in the 31st over to clinch back-to-back league wins.

For Hampstead, it was another frustrating afternoon after losing to Ealing the previous weekend.

Chairman Nick Brown said: "It was a bad defeat to a good North Middlesex team. I still believe that we have a very strong squad of players, but that means nothing if they are injured or not available.

"It's an excuse, nonetheless it doesn't mean it isn't true. If you take out two of the best three players from any Premier batting line-up, that is a really significant difference right there.

"Take (Oliver) Wilkin and (Bailey) Capel out of the Ealing line up, take Cracknell and Hollman out of the North Midd line up and its a massive impact.

"Whilst we have good players in reserve, filling the shoes of two of the best players in the league is very tough. We have got to start putting runs on the board for our strong bowling line up to have a chance to win us some games, it's really as simple as that."

Hampstead will hope to do this at the weekend away to Finchley, who are winless in the Premier Division this season after three games so far.

North Middlesex, meanwhile, travel to Twickenham hoping to keep pace with Ealing and looking to win again.
