Essex Road IV exhibition returns to Tintype gallery, with films from eight artists about the area
It’s a mile-long stretch, with vastly different features depending on where you stand. Littered with pubs, bars and restaurants as well as renowned comedy, a much loved record store, a 120 year old fishmonger and a taxidermist, Essex Road has evolved a great deal over the years.
Tintype gallery on Essex Road has been championing its neighbourhood since settling down in the old haberdashery.
Returning for a fourth year, Essex Road IV brings eight artists together to present their own interpretations of the street, in films commissioned by the gallery. Showing in the window on a loop throughout the day, the busy corner in the middle of the street will be on view for passersby for six weeks over December and January.
The films will be by artists Edwina Ashton, Chloe Dewe Mathews, Benedict Drew, Judith Goddard, Matthew Noel-Tod, Paul Tarrago, Xiaowen Zhu and Richard Wentworth.
Screening in the window from December 8 to January 13, Tintype, 107 Essex Road, N1 2SL
