One of London’s top big bands will be returning to Islington next week for a night of jazz, swing and funk.
Duke Street Big Band will be at the Old Queen’s Head, Essex Road, on Wednesday for the King’s Cross-based jazz outfit’s long-awaited return to the pub.
Band leader Tom Mawby said: “The Old Queen’s Head is a lovely old pub full of booze, so you’re pretty much guaranteed a fun evening.”
Described by the band as north London’s answer to Ella Fitzgerald, vocalist Talia will join the group for a set featuring tunes by Nat King Cole, Dizzy Gillespie, Maynard Ferguson, Stevie Wonder and of course Ella herself.
The gig starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £6.50 from Event Brite.
