After a sold-out debut at Edinburgh Fringe drew a number of glowing reviews, Brexit: The Play crosses the border and heads south for an 18-day run at The Kings Head Theatre from October 30.

Holloway resident and star of The Archers Tim Bentinck – who will also pick up an MBE for his services to drama next month – reprises his lead role as PM Adam Masters in a witty take on the government’s Brexit plans.

Set in 2020 and with negotiations still at a deadlock, Bentinck’s character must step up for his country and implement a masterplan – which would be great if only he could remember it properly.

The play was written by Robert Khan and Tom Salinsky and was originally performed in a large converted basketball hall as part of this year’s Edinburgh Festival.

Its second coming will be a different experience altogether, with a fresh new cast (aside from Bentinck and Pippa Evans) set to bring their own take to the production in the intimate surrounds of this Upper Street venue.

Thom Tuck, Lucy Montgomery and Adam Astill join Bentinck and Evans for the London edition of the play, which opens on Tuesday night and continues until November 17.

Bentinck said he was “astonished and humbled” to be named among the Queen’s birthday honours list in June, capping off an impressive year which will also see the paperback release of his autobiography: Being David Archer and Other Unusual Ways of Earning a Living.

Whilst mainly suited to fans of the BBC radio show, Bentinck’s book also sheds light on some of his lesser-known work, including everything from working on a farm and sitting in the House of Lords to providing the Mind the Gap voiceover on the Piccadilly Line.
