It’s been a whirlwind few years for a capella group, Sons of Pitches.

From their modest beginnings on YouTube to winning Gareth Malone’s The Naked Choir, and now on their third UK tour, the group show no signs of stopping. Unfazed by the fame, the group’s Joe Belham is as enthusiastic as ever.

“It still blows our minds that so many people came along to see our shows - some people came along more than once!” he says.

“You never quite get used to that feeling of walking onto the stage in front of hundreds of people that are all there to see you and no-one else, but we’ll never get tired of it.”

From TV theme tunes to talent shows, the group are taking on the world of entertainment in their latest tour, promising a vocal adventure, celebrating all the best bits of the small screen.

“This show is going to be unlike anything you’ve seen before - we’ve got so much planned for it!” says Belham.

“Expect nostalgia-fuelled medleys of your favourite shows, games based on panel shows and improvised songs made up entirely on the spot. As always we’re going to be coming out with buckets of energy to make you laugh, sing and dance the night away.”

The group, consisting of members Joe Novelli, Joe Hinds, Jamie Hughes, Joe Belham, Josh Mallett and Midé Naike, are playing two dates at Islington’s Union Chapel this June.

Bringing a new lease of life to a cappella, the Sons of Pitches are sure to provide a show like never before.

Around since before the release of Pitch Perfect, they are credited with giving a capella “a kick up the backside”.

“We’ve always stood apart from other a cappella groups with our performance style. We have never really been the type of group to just perfectly sing songs stood still on stage - we have always gone out to entertain with energy and humour. That doesn’t mean we can’t sing though!”

Sons of Pitches play the Union Chapel, June 29 and 30.
