As an exciting Premier League season draws closer for Arsenal FC, these drawings by Gooner artist Julienne Machecourt will help supporters get in the mood.
A dedicated fan and member of the Arsenal Supporter’s Trust, Machecourt became a full-time artist at the turn of the year, yet much of her work still focuses on the life and history of her favourite club.
Recently, she finished her ‘Arsenal in Islington since 1913’ project, which sees one poster comprised of 12 individual drawings. These include seven Arsenal legends – Cliff Bastin, Joe Mercer, Liam Brady, Charlie George, Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Tony Adams and Arsene Wenger– as well as locations such as Highbury stadium, Gillespie Road and the Emirates Stadium.
Her latest drawing was of Aaron Ramsey celebrating his FA Cup winning goal and the drawing has been given to Arsenal’s communications director who presented it to Ramsey on his pre-season return.
