Bold works influenced by iconography and surrealism are to go on display at a Hoxton gallery.
Well Hung gallery in Hoxton Street is working with a new group of artists who produce strongly visual works for its spring exhibition, Well Hung Re-Hang, which has its private view on Thursday, April 14.
Among those who have contributed to the show is Whitechapel artist Andrew Millar, who uses a combination of instant film, gold and silver leaf, and paint to create collage pieces that aim to blur the lines between reality and fantasy. To create his works, he uses polaroid film which he manipulates during the development process, and applies 24k gold leaf by hand.
Other artists exhibiting include Joseph Loughborough, a British artist who now lives in Berlin, who draws on his fascination with human nature for his expressive works. Alexandra Gallagher’s pieces celebrate the surreal and bizarre, with colourful dreamscapes that explore themes of imagination and inner thought. Brighton artist Bonnie and Clyde, Mr Piper, and Kerry Beall are other names on the bill.
Well Hung Re-Hang runs from April 14 until May 19, Monday to Saturday between 10am and 6pm.
